The staff at Akel House truly shined. they were incredibly eager to assist with everything we needed. Early check-in was a lifesaver after traveling all night. The location allowed easy access to local attractions, which was a huge plus. The room’s air conditioning worked wonders in the Cartagena heat, ensuring our comfort. However, breakfast options could be improved, as the toast was barely warm. Shower water temperature was inconsistent. Also, the bed covering could use a proper blanket instead of just a sheet.

The AC was great, but the furniture was falling apart.

The rooftop breakfast was a magical experience, with fresh tropical fruits and stunning views. Nearby, I discovered Kokoa Sushi Wok—an absolute gem for sushi lovers, just a short stroll away. The air conditioning worked wonders during the Cartagena heat, keeping my room cool and comfortable.
Everything's kind of oldish. the furniture is falling apart and the pool isn’t inviting. I ended up leaving after one night instead of three after a bit of an agreement with the staff, but my credit card was still charged for all days. Totally overpriced for the service!

The shower water temperature was inconsistent, which was inconvenient during my stay.

The rustic charm of Akel House Hotel was quite
impressive, with stylish touches throughout the property. The staff were incredibly warm and welcoming, especially Alexander at reception. However, the breakfast offerings could be improved, and the room I stayed in was a bit outdated, which was disappointing.

missingWrote a review on 13 Octclean terracedecent balconydirty street
The breakfast area on the terrace offers a clean environment, even if it gets a little toasty thanks to the A/C units. The rooms, equipped with balconies, provide a decent spot for solo travelers to catch some fresh air.
Situated on a lonely, dirty side street, the views from the rooms are pretty limited. The exercise equipment upstairs is minimal and not well-maintained, while the common kitchen area next to the pool undeniably needs an update. Constantly relying on staff to let us in since there’s no key/card for the main door felt slightly inconvenient, though we never waited long. Lastly, the bed pillows lack quality, with only one per person making for uncomfortable nights.
